If you don’t get the physical and emotional support you need, the stress of caregiving can leave you vulnerable to a wide range of problems, including depression, anxiety, and eventually burnout. And when you get to that point, both you and the person you’re caring for suffer. An estimated 34.2 million American adults have served as an unpaid caregiver to someone age 50 or older in the prior 12 months. Caregivers of someone 50+ are 50.3 years old, on average, and most are female (60%). The majority (86%) of 50+ caregivers provide care for a relative, 47% care .
